Sam's School Play!

On Wednesday night we went to Sam's school to see the "Tony Award Worthy" production of BUGZ!
staring Sam Fulton (well kind of . . . he had one line)
It was such a cute play and so fun to see Sam in his element with all of his buddies.
Sam was a firefly in the play

It was put on by the Third Graders at Springcreek Elementary School.

Sam's good friend, and neighbor, Cameron (in black) was a dragonfly.
He did an adorable dance with some of the other bugs.

Sam's current best buddy Daunte was a caterpillar.

This picture is of Sam right before he said his line,
he was so nervous before the play
He did such a great job saying his showstopping line though!
"Let's eat fried chicken . . . Yum!"

This is a picture of the Army Ants.
Most of these boys are in Sam's class

Everyone enjoyed cookies after the play!

Grammy came to see the big production too!  She and I were both commenting on seeing Sam in his element at Springcreek.  He seems to know everyone there and we didn't go more than 2 min. without another classmate (or teacher) coming over and saying "Hi Sam", "Hey Sam, come over here", "Sam, come sit by me!".  It is quite odd for my mom and I because we are so used to knowing everyone, and because I have been working so much this year, I feel like I am a little out of touch at Sam's school.  He certainly doesn't need me though.  He knows everyone at his school, and it is obvious that he is very well liked there by everyone.  It feels good to see him so happy.

Oregon Duck Baseball

The Ducks have a brand new Baseball staduim.  USC was in town this weekend to play the Ducks, so Pancho took Sam and Lucy to the game today.  Sam was in heaven and he had so much fun with Pancho at the game.  When we were tucking him in tonight, he told us, "I don't know if I can go to sleep tonight, I am too excited about everything that happened today".
I took this picture right before they left for the game.

Lucy was excited to go too, but Pancho called me to come pick her up about an hour into the game.  She liked it, but she was ready to come home (I love my girl).  I picked her up and she and I had a great time shopping for flowers together, and planting them in the yard.

 . . . a picture of our new stadium.

Sam had so much fun,  that he and Pancho stayed for the whole game.  Then they stayed after the game, because the players put on a clinic for the kids who stay.  He got to go down on the field, play baseball with the players, pitch, run the bases and get his ball signed too!

Sam and Lu at the game, just before one of the USC players caught a fly ball,  then came over and handed it to Lucy.  She was so excited, but still wanted to go home early.

Sam on the field, waiting for the players to come out and start the clinic.
He couldn't stop talking about it when he got home, he reminded me of his Daddy.  I got to hear every detail!
I think that one of the best things about this day for Sam was that he got his Dad all to himself for most of the day.  This is very rare for the middle child.  It is also difficult when you have 2 boys that are close in age and want to do the same things.   I was so happy for Sam that he got this special day (mostly) all to himself!

Where was Max you ask?
Well this was a weekend of firsts for our kids.  First Oregon Baseball Game for Sam.  First front tooth loss for Lucy (see next post) and first travelling game for Max.  His team had a game in North Bend, which is about 2 hours away. Pancho and I chose not to spend 4 hours in the car to watch a 1 hour soccer game (especially since we got to watch 2 games yesterday)  so we happily sent him with his coaches.  He was so excited!
The team met at St. Paul at 10:00 this morning to pile into two cars for the long drive.

Ben, Max and Connor all strapped in for the long drive.  Even though they tied their game, Max had so much fun spending the day with his team.  They didnt get home until 5:00pm.  He is growing up so fast, I am not sure if I am ready for this.

Snaggle Tooth

Lucy's 2 front teeth have been loose for a couple of weeks now.  She has been waiting and waiting for them to fall out.  She keeps track daily, of who has lost their front teeth in her kindergarten class and who hasn't.  It is a constant topic of discussion in our house.  You can imagine our surprise when the tooth to the right of her two front teeth just fell out on Friday (we didn't even know it was loose!).  Then Yesterday, her left front tooth fell out, leaving just one, right in the middle.  Pancho and I think this is sooooo funny, but she has caught on that we are laughing at her tooth now, so we have to be more covert with our laughter.

It is all we can do, to hold ourselves back from yanking that tooth out, but she wont let us touch it!
It is just barely hanging there!

I also have a "classic" Mother of the Year / Bad Mom story that goes along with the tooth loss.  I am not sure if I am ready to post it on the web though.  My children don't look too scarred though do they?  How did they get so lucky to get a Mom like me? Ha ha

Neighborhood Buddies

I feel like I need to Blog about our new friends since they spend so much time at our house.

Sam and Daunte - 3rd graders
Daunte and his sister Aleaya "Lia" as well as their older brother Darnell, live about 2 streets away from us.  They are usually waiting outside of our house asking to play when we get home from work/school.

Lia (5) and Lucy (6)

Lucy is so happy to finally have a girl to play with in the neighborhood.

Barbies, tea parties and fighting with the boys for some trampoline time!

Sam and Daunte holding our new kitty named Midnight.

Darnell is actually just a year older than Max and they get along really well too.  You can usually find the two of them playing basketball together in the driveway after school.  How fun that we found neighborhood friends that match up so well!

soccer games and a movie night

This has just been one of those typical weekends.  Max had two soccer games, Sam and Lucy had sleepovers and we all went as a family (+1) to a movie.  So I have nothing spectacular to report, except that I REALLY like our "typical family weekends".

. . . and so Spring Soccer begins.
Soccer is not Max's #1 sport, but he still really enjoys it.

Max played football in the fall, so he missed fall  soccer.
He still amazes us with how good he is though, he seems to be fitting in just fine with the soccer pros on his team!

Max is on the far right, trying to stop a penalty kick,
"protect your nuggets buddy!" ha ha

"'The Mom's" enjoying the sunshine and watching the game.
Well . . . I always seem to be doing a lot of talking too.

Sam is NOT a soccer fan.  He does love football however, and he can't wait to play in the fall.  He just finished basketball and he wants  to play baseball, but I am not ready for any of the serious leagues like "Little League" that go for months, so I am making him wait for kidsports baseball in May and June.

Ethan and Lucy are still best of buddies even though they are not in the same class (or school) this year.
They still spend plenty of time together at their big brothers' games and practices though.

. . . and now for the Movie!
We took the kids to the movie "How To Train Your Dragon".  We had a tough time deciding whether or not to spring for the 3D version though (it is quite a bit more expensive).  We finally gave in to the kids begginng and went for it, and we were so glad that we did!  It really is a great movie and the 3D animation is absolutely amazing!

Lucy, Max, Dante (Sam's best friend at school) and Sam
We were all feeling pretty cool in our 3D glasses!

I like the "uni-bomber look" Max

Sam and Dante
These two have been inseperable lately.
It's always fun (and interesting) to get to know Sam's friends from school.
